Prerequisites

  • Create a browser action recording
  • Install SOASTA Conductors on a Windows machine and a Mac

Steps

  1. In the Central list, select Test Compositions and then click New.

    —Or—

Click the drop-down on the New button and choose New Test Composition.
Compositions list

In the Composition Editor > Composition Builder list, find the test clip that you want to add.

Double-click the test clip in the Clip Editor to add it to the Test Composition. It will be added to the first track. Alternately, drag and drop the clip to any track. A track will be created in the open workspace if the clip is dropped there.

Click the blue track name area to select the Track.

Click the Copy button.

Click the Paste button three times.

The Test Composition now has four copies of the same test clip, one on each track.

At the bottom of the page, click the Properties tab.

The Properties screen will open showing a tree of the components of the Test Composition.

This is where you will set the information about which SOASTA Conductor and which browser will run each test clip.

Click the target item under the first test clip in the tree.

The target’s system properties will be shown on the right.

Click the drop-down menu next the SOASTA Conductors and you will see a list of all the available SOASTA Conductors. Choose a SOASTA Conductor that is running on a Windows machine. For example, if you have a SOASTA Conductor named SOASTA_DOC's Conductor that is running on a Dell PC with the IP address 10.0.1.5.

Click the drop-down menu next to the browsers. Choose the Internet Explorer browser.

Repeat the above steps for the 2nd through 4th clips. For example, using the following criteria select Conductors from two machines, one Windows and the other Macintosh OS X. You can optionally name the Conductors during Conductor installation so that their operating system is apparent.

  • For the second clip, choose the same SOASTA Conductor you chose for the first target but choose the Firefox browser.
  • For the third clip, choose a Conductor that is installed on a Mac and then choose the Firefox browser.
  • For the fourth clip, choose a SOASTA Conductor that is running on a Mac and choose the Safari browser.

Save the Test Composition by clicking the Save button in the main toolbar.

A dialog will open where you can name the Test Composition.

Press the Play button to run the test with multiple browsers.
