A dashboard is where you view and analyze your test results. SOASTA CloudTest provides a wide variety of analytic widgets to fill your dashboards. You can use one or more to track your test results and with as many widgets on each as you prefer.

Note: It is not necessary to create a dashboard before you play your tests. SOASTA CloudTest provides a Default Functional Dashboard that lets you get started right away.

Steps

Use the following steps to create a Dashboard:

    1. From the Central list, select Compositions and then select the composition double-click the composition to open

  1. Once the test composition is open, click the Play tab.

The Result Details dashboard appears unless there is already a dashboard associated with the test composition. The Result Details widget begins to populate as the test plays, using live data.

  1. With the Play tab selected, click the "+" link to the right of the last dashbaord tab.

The Dashboard wizard appears with the New or Existing Dashboard page in display.

    1. From here, you can either select from the existing (system or custom) dashboards or create a new custom dashboard.

If you choose an existing custom dashboard, the dashboard opens in a new tab within the Play tab. You can add more widgets to further customize it. If you chose a read-only system dashboard, save the dashboard with an alternate name to customize it.

      • In the Choose Dashboard dialog box, pick an existing dashboard from the list and then click OK.

When you do so, the dashboard opens in the play tab. You can play your test composition and view results in your new selection, or, continue to customize the dashboard by changing its current configuration or by adding and removing widgets.

Adding Widgets

Widgets are presented in the Widget Type section from where they can be easily dragged into position in dashboards. Click the arrow of any widget category to expand its contents. Widgets from monitors and external data sources are included here. Choose from among Basic, Charts, Containers, Custom, Logging, Maps, Monitor, and Utilities (formerly Monitoring Utilities) widgets. Any external data sources configured appear at the bottom of this list.

Widget Types section

Add widgets to the dashboard by dragging them from the list to the workspace, combine or correlate widgets by dropping them onto other widgets. Selected widgets in the dashboard automatically scroll this list to that selection. For example, expand the Basic widget category by clicking its right arrow.
