There are two ways to create a Test Clip manually. Both these methods will launch the Clip Editor.

The first way to create a Test Clip is to click Test Clip under the Create New section of in the Central > Welcome page.

Create a New section of Welcome page

The second way is to go to SOASTA Central > Test Clips, and then click the New button, which is located on the tool bar near the top of the page. This method is used in the step-by-step instructions below.

For more about test clips and their components, see Test Clip.

Using the Record Button

Both browser action and app action recordings are created inline in the Clip Editor.

HTTP(S) test clips are created automatically from HTTP(S) recordings before conversion to test clip format (refer to Creating an HTTP(S) Recording for more information.

  1. When a new Untitled Test Clip is created, the Clip Editor launches with a Record prompt. Once ready, click the Record button and then select the appropriate command from the menu.
TIP: Browser recording options appear on this menu only in the supported Firefox.

  1. For Record Mobile App, the Choose a Device Agent and Mobile App wizard appears. Choose the Device Agent and Mobile App from among those configured and click Record on the lower right. See the TouchTest Tutorial for more about mobile app recording.
  2. For Record Browser (either command), enter the URL of the site to record. See Create a New Browser Action Recording.
