Use the following steps to create a Monitor Server: From the Central list, select Monitoring Server Groups.
After selecting Monitoring Servers from the Navigator, click the New icon.
The Monitoring Server / Monitor wizard appears. Select Monitor Server and click Next.
The Name and Connection step is shown. Enter the Monitoring Server Group name, a brief description, and enter one or more host names of servers to monitor. Click the Add button after entering a host name to add it to the list of hosts. The Monitoring Server Groups feature also adds the ability to show averages across a group of machines in the monitor charts. For example, you can show the average CPU usage of all web servers instead of one line per machine appearing in the chart. During Monitor selection, a monitor group can be selected from the Monitor specification in the Monitors list. For example, LG1 and Liberty CPU are two hosts in a group.
The Resources step is shown. Select the resource categories that are available for monitoring on host and click Next.  For each resource that you select, a subsequent step will ask you for connection information.  For this example, we’ll specify System Resources and Databases.  The System Resources step allows you to specify the operating system type, connection method and credentials:
Operating systems supported include various Linux vendors, Apple Mac OS X and various versions of Microsoft Windows.  Connection methods include SSH and Conductor.  SSH is applicable only to Linux and Mac OS X operating systems.  Microsoft Windows monitoring requires a Conductor connection.  After specifying the connection method and credentials, you can test the connection by pressing the Test Connection button.  Finally, click Next to configure any remaining server resources.  In this example we’ll configure our database next:
You may specify one or more database servers for each Monitoring Server.  For each database server, provide a nickname (this is a name that is useful for you to easily denote which database you’re configuring), database type, connection method and credentials.  The connection method includes direct (SQL through a JDBC driver) or Conductor.  The Conductor connection method is useful if the database server is behind a firewall or is otherwise inaccessible through a direct SQL connection.  After providing the connection information and credentials, you may test the connection by pressing the Test Connection button.  Finally, click Next to configure any remaining server resources.
For our example, we have no remaining resources to configure, so the Finish step is shown. The final step shows a summary of the options that will be used to create the Monitoring Server.  If anything is not correct, you can use the Back button to make corrections.  Clicking Finish will create and save the new Monitoring Server.  Optionally, if you wish to define a new Monitor which will use the newly-created Monitoring Server, click the Create a new Monitor for this Monitor Server checkbox.  In this case, the Monitoring Server will be saved and the wizard will be reset to allow creation of a new Monitor.
