Any HTTP or HTTPS recording may be used to create a clip. To convert a recording to a clip, open it from Central > HTTP(S) Message Recordings and follow these steps: |

NameThe first wizard screen allows you to name the clip, select its timing type, decide how much of the recording you wish to convert (based on filtering) and whether or not to use Auto-naming for messages in the converted test clip. The timing choices are:
The Auto-name messages feature will name the messages created during recording-to-clip conversion using the end portion of their respective relative URLs. Unchecking this box will result in messages that are named by number instead (e.g. Message 1, Message2). |

Create New Targets
When No New Targets DetectedWhen no new targets are detected, the New Targets list displays the message "No new targets to create". In the Potential SOAP Targets list, the message "No potential SOAP targets" is displayed when no SOAP targets are detected. The Create New Targets page of the Convert Recording to Clip Wizard now displays the complete target URL when the mouse hovers over a given target in the New Targets list. Un-checking the box for a new target means that the corresponding messages will not be added to the final test clip. Click Next to continue. The middle table, Potential SOAP Targets, shows targets that are possibly SOAP, but are not yet resolved (no WSDL target has yet been defined for them). For Targets that appear in this list—an HTTP target will be created if a SOAP target is not provided. The Binary SOAP Endpoints table shows binary SOAP targets that must be resolved before the Next button is made active. Adding a WSDL URL using the bottom box (and then clicking Apply) will create such a target based on the given WSDL. Once Applys is clicked the lists above are reloaded to detect targets based on the change. |

Create New PagesThe Create Pages step provides the ability to tightly organize the new test clip and its elements by the page to which they correspond.

Dynamic mode uses the target “HTML Document” to request the page’s resources. The correct URL for each resource at the time the test is run is used, regardless of what the target says. The connection pool and configuration settings of the target are shared by all of the resource retrievals. See the Connection Options section of the Target Editor for the relevant target to inspect these settings. TIP: Use the “URL for Reporting” widget to track the actual URLs used in your test. This chart will provide more accurate statistics than widgets segmented by target, although target-based widgets will remain available. Note: CloudTest will not recursively retrieve nested resources in frames or iframes in the response. Frames or iframes will be represented in the clip by their own pages.
